GadgetFan - Apple gave a preview of the next version of the operating system Mac OS X yesterday called "Moountain Lion" (02/16/2012). The software is rumored to be released for commercial purposes this summer via its App Store Mac and bring better features than Apple's IOS.
Apple has internalized the new software with many features top of the iPhone and the iPad. All the features aimed at making computers more useful and more favored by millions of Apple fans who prefer IOS devices in recent years.
Of course, the idea of convergence between the two platforms is not new. In 2010, Steve Jobs said the software OS X Lion (the predecessor of Mountain Lion) is a convergence between the iPad and MacBook.
So does that mean OS X and IOS are on the cusp of going dikonvergensikan become one and the same?
Of course not, it's another step in Apple's strategy to tie users into the Apple ecosystem. The company is making a difference and differentiation when needed, but also a little flavor and a similar mixture that makes things feel more integrated and has a typical Apple.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, in a conversation a few weeks ago, believes that computers are no longer the center of the digital life. In Apple's vision, this role has been taken over by iCloud, and software like it. Mountain Lion, iCloud act like glue and make some applications go to the IOS OS X and make them work with each other.
So what's new OS X "Mountain Lion" is?
There are changes to the messaging system that will replace the role of iChat. Apple adds compatibility with iMessage same service that was introduced in IOS 5. Message from the Mountain Lion can be used to send and receive messages with users for free, and conversation can be continued from other devices with the same Apple ID.
Then when Apple had been more deeply integrated into the Mac, there are Apple iCloud Service. This function does it work like the Mac Finder (Mac file viewer), where users can view and access the documents they have stored there.
Game Center, an application that shows the full catalog of games, will also be available. Just like in the IOS, you can view and launch the game from here, look at accomplishments, and look at leaderboards. Then, there are plans from developers to add features multiplayer gaming for the Mac.
This release is another step to make users of Apple's iPhone and iPad taste feels like home without the help of iTunes on the Mac, something that is becoming increasingly important where people always want practicality.
