GadgetFan - One city in the state of New Jersey, USA, would enact new legislation where people who are walking should not do SMS from their mobile phones.
Town called Fort Lee, New Jersey, to make regulations that the SMS while walking is illegal for 35 000 inhabitants. Police who saw pedestrians do SMS through their mobile phone can be fined and their demand for $ 85 jaywalking ticket.
Wow, such rules may seem silly and strange, but Thomas Ripoli, a police chief in Fort Lee confirmed that this rule needs to be done because there were three fatal accidents caused by walking and SMS's.
In an interview to ABC News, Ripoli explains, "Walking with SMS's are a big distraction, pedestrians do not see which way they walk and they also become cautious."
Earlier, in March, this town in New Jersey has issued posters and banners about the dangers of doing SMS while walking. Since the implementation of this rule has been fined 117 jaywalking ticket issued to citizens who are still stubborn.
