Orangutans do have extraordinary intelligence. However, orangutans do not have vocal cords so that they can not communicate. Currently the zoo keepers have been using sign language to communicate with them. Miami zoo keeper said that the iPad can provide other forms of communication between humans and orangutans.

The coach gives iPad without removing them from the cage. "They seem to learn quickly and begin to identify the image shown on the iPad," said Linda Jacobs, program supervisor at the zoo Orang Utan Miami.

Unfortunately, the shape of their hands and nails are long, the Orangutan can not really use the iPad well.

In the future, Jacobs hopes to make a video conference so that the Orang Utan can meet and interact with their counterparts in other zoos around the world. He also hoped that this effort will bring awareness to people, that the Orang Utan is now threatened with extinction.
