GadgetFan - RIM has just hired two executives to top-level management ranks. Tear Kristin joined as Chief Operating Officer (COO) RIM, Kristin Tear is a former Sony executive vice president of Mobile Communications. Meanwhile, another one is Frank Boulben recruits a former executive vice president of marketing and sales strategies for mobile broadband providers LightSquared.
RIM COO role in all aspects of operations of the devices and services, including R & D, product, sales, manufacturing, and supply chain. Meanwhile, the CMO has the responsibility to deal with RIM's global marketing strategy.
RIM believes in hiring the most out of it and said it would focus on expanding global customer base ahead of the launch of 10 new BlackBerry devices later this year.
"Kristian and Frank brings extensive knowledge of the global wireless market is rapidly changing and RIM will help us sharpen the focus by providing long-term value for our stakeholders," said Thorsten Heins RIM's Chief Executive said in a statement.
"Most importantly, both Kristian and Frank has a keen understanding of emerging trends in mobile communications and computing." He added.
RIM is struggling to get a room in the world smartphone market. This year, they will release 10 BB to be able to compete with others. However, companies still need the device, and developers to support it, even with the best of the executive, RIM will still face an uphill battle to try to regain lost ground.
