GadgetFan - It is no secret that Apple is Samsung's rival in sales of their smartphone devices. However, for the U.S. market share, Apple continues to dominate smartphone sales, followed by Samsung.
According to statistics from the NPD Group, the value of Apple's market share was 29 percent for the first quarter, up 7 percent from a year ago. At the same time, Samsung's market share jumped by 140 percent. This increase is still inferior to Apple because Samsung's market share in the U.S. only 24%.
Five best-selling smartphone device today is the iPhone, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3G, Samsung Galaxy II and in fifth place is the HTC Evo 3D. Although Apple may have beat Samsung in U.S. smartphone competition in the last quarter, the iPhone is still lagging manufacturers to market in the world affairs.
According to IDC, during the first quarter, Samsung's global market share reached 29.1 percent, while Apple only 24.2 percent. Samsung also reported sales of 11.8 million units performed better than Apple's smartphone.
If talking about the OS, the data also shows a phone with Android OS control 61 percent of the U.S. market. This figure increased by 24%, compared with the previous quarter. Meanwhile, Apple's market share fell to IOS 29 percent from 41 percent in the last quarter of last year.
